I know I’m right. Unless of course you don’t eat bacon... which I understand in theory, but not in practise...
You flop out of bed and because you always try to be nice to your future self you ground the coffee the night before and loaded up the coffee machine so it’s all ready to go first thing in the a.m.
Cuz you’re a genius and you know what’s awesome and you should probably congratulate yourself.
Opening the fridge, you grab the creamo and then scan the other shelves for the familiar package of meat candy.
What the what?
This my friends, is when you breathe deeply and sing out Vive le Québec!!
Because in Montreal, there’s a Dépanneur (corner store) basically within arm’s reach of every single apartment in this city, and they’re always, always open.
From the French verb dépanner, which loosely translates to 'troubleshoot' or 'help you out', your typical neighbourhood Dépanneur carries everything from beer to bacon to bbq chips and even total rando items like soup stock and canned oysters.
So. There’s no need for panic. Just troubleshooting. In fact, 8:30am on a Saturday may be the only time I’m spotted outside my home wearing anything that resembles pyjamas....like, I will hoof it out there in slippers and without washing my face because the bacon is just across the street and an emergency is an emergency.
This coming from the girl who puts on lipstick to go cross country skiing in the forest by myself because you know, four quail and one deer might see me.
Audible eyeroll. I know, I know. Ridonkulous.
