Scandalfrond Square Tablecloth in Dalliance - Made to Order
I was looking at a 19th century William Morris wallpaper one day and thought to myself, you know the only plants that ever get to be in these wallpapers are the polite plants: the preppy peonies, the straight-laced apples and pompous pomegranates. They're neatly in line, they know where they're supposed to be and how to look. Neat and tidy.
And I wondered, well what about the less dignified foliage? What about the misbehaving fruits?
This led me to create a small series of twisted paintings and drawings based off floral wallpapers, with slightly melted and skewed motifs. Little critters and diseases hidden in there. If you've ever encountered a Saskatoon bush with that weird growth that gets all over the berries, just picture that kind of scene.
Dress your table with these floral beauties, they'll accent your table setting like a bouquet that never dies.
The images are based on original ink drawings and printed by hand with water based ink in my eco-friendly print studio.
